CLIENT Success: ImproveD Alignment and Execution

Background: A go-to-market team was facing the challenge of conflicting priorities and lack of visibility into other teams’ project pipelines. This misalignment was creating challenges across sales, marketing, product, tools, and communications teams, resulting in missed opportunities, delays, and frustration.

Challenge: The team faced several challenges that were hindering their ability to execute projects successfully. There was no centralized system for tracking and managing projects, leading to confusion and misalignment across teams. The lack of visibility into other teams’ project pipelines meant that teams were not aware of conflicting priorities or overlapping deadlines, leading to missed opportunities and delays. Additionally, there was no formal process for strategic planning and prioritization, which further contributed to misalignment and inefficiencies.

Solution: To address these challenges, we implemented a collision calendar using Tableau. The collision calendar provided a consolidated view of all projects within the department, including sales, marketing, product, tools, and communications. The calendar allowed teams to visualize their projects, timelines, and dependencies, making it easier to identify and resolve conflicts.

The collision calendar also included a strategic planning and prioritization process. Each team was able to input their projects into the calendar and assign them a priority level. The teams were then able to work together to determine the most strategic order of execution based on the priorities and dependencies of each project.

Results: As a result of the collision calendar implementation, the team was able to improve alignment and execution. The calendar provided a centralized system for tracking and managing projects, reducing confusion and misalignment. The visibility into other teams’ project pipelines allowed for better coordination and identification of conflicts, reducing missed opportunities and delays. The strategic planning and prioritization process ensured that all projects were executed in the most strategic order, optimizing the team’s resources and increasing overall efficiency.

Conclusion: By implementing a collision calendar using Tableau, the go-to-market team was able to overcome misalignment across teams and improve their execution. The calendar provided a consolidated view of all projects within the department, making it easier to identify and resolve conflicts.
